National Intimate Theatre Festival 2022

The National Intimate Theatre Festival of 2022 took place from June 17th to 19th, featuring an array of captivating performances. The inauguration of the festival was graced by esteemed theatre activists Avi Chakraborty (a member of West Bengal Natya Academy), Tamal Mukhopadhyay, and Biplab Kumar Ghosh, a journalist. This event provided a platform for unique and intimate theatrical expressions, fostering collaboration and exchange within the theatre community.

The festival showcased a diverse lineup of performances. ‘Bhowtik Palonko’ by Ashoknagar Natyamukh, ‘Parshochoritro’ and ‘Naya Rupkatha’ by Urnabati Sen, ‘Vangoner pothe’ by Durgapur Bhimroti under the direction of Dipankar Sen, ‘Durga Tuntuni’ by Shyambazar Natyacharchakendra directed by Mrittika Basu, ‘Apekkhar Mukh’ by Shantipur Sanskritikm under Koushik Chatterjee’s direction, ‘Colors of Love’ by Alternative Living Theatre under Abhik Guha’s direction, and ‘Ulka’ and ‘Kalantak Lalphita’ by Ashokenagar Antaheen Kalaskhetra, directed by Pritha Chowdhury. Notably, candid theatre artist Sudipto Bhuinya also contributed to the festival’s offerings.

The festival was not only a celebration of diverse theatrical artistry but also a platform for meaningful engagement and exploration of intimate theatre forms.
