Reba Chowdhury, the visionary behind Ashoknagar Antaheen Kalakhetra, has been the source of inspiration for us since the institution’s inception. In 2019, we embarked on a mission to pay homage to her remarkable contributions. Thus, we initiated the ‘Reba Chowdhury Smarok Sommanona o Baktrita,’ an annual tribute given on the 16th of October, commemorating her death anniversary. In its inaugural year, 2019, the tribute was presented a day earlier on the 15th of October.
This award holds a special place in our hearts as it not only honors Reba Chowdhury’s legacy but also celebrates individuals who have made significant contributions to the realms of theatre and culture. The first recipients of this prestigious honor were Subhendu Maity, a renowned theatre personality and singer, and Indranil Sukla, a journalist associated with Iman Mime Theatre. Their insightful speeches added depth to the event, making it a fitting tribute to the memory of the esteemed Reba Chowdhury.
