Ashoknagar Antaheen Kalakhetra, founded by the visionary Reba Chowdhury, has long harbored a deep-seated desire to pay homage to her legacy. This led to the initiation of the ‘Reba Chowdhury Smarok Sommanona o Baktrita’ in her honor, a tradition that commenced in 2019 and takes place annually on the 16th of October, commemorating her passing. The inception of this tribute marked a significant milestone in the institution’s history.
In 2020, this heartfelt tradition continued, with a fervent commitment to honoring exceptional individuals across various fields. The awardees included Samrat Mukhopadhyay, celebrated for his contributions to journalism, Angshuman Bhomick, an esteemed theatre critic and practitioner, Joydeb Bala, a prominent figure in the realm of painting, Arunangshu Roy, an accomplished artist in his own right, Avik Bhattachrjee and Prantik Chowdhury, both renowned theatre activists, Dr. Manoj Ghosh, recognized for his exceptional social work, Anirban Sarkar, a distinguished theatre actor, and Dhanapoti Mondal, a dedicated theatre practitioner.
On this auspicious day, the institution not only bestows these honors but also showcases its own creative endeavors, a testament to its commitment to preserving and promoting the arts and the memory of Reba Chowdhury.
